Hello World,
I am overwhelmed, they talk about how nursing school can be a huge adjustment and I can tell you that, that is true. On top of all of that, I work as a PCT at a local hospital. How do I balance life and work? I don't but what I can do is try to stay organized. Here are some things that I do to keep my head above the water. I have a planner, and in my planner, I have color-coded my classes. Each class has a specific color, and I write down the assignment for each class using their color. As I complete an assignment I cross it off. That way I can see where I am going and I can stay ahead of the game. What I can do so far is stay a week ahead of my assignments, that way when work-life gets crazy I don't have to worry about getting behind because I am ahead. I have been doing this since I was in middle school, but I have started doing this consistently once I started to get serious about school.
Another thing that I use are Frixion erasable pens. Yes, I said erasable pens. They come in different colors which helps me out with note-taking. I can emphasize using certain colors, certain vocabulary words, etc. Here's the Amazon link so you can get yours!
There is also a set of black and blue erasable pens from ParKoo pens. They come in different colors as well, but I prefer to use the black and blue colors. This can also be found on Amazon and the link is also included below!
I think staying ahead of the game is the best rule of thumb. I am saying this as a bright-eyed, hopeful, first-semester nursing student. Things may change by the end of the semester. I hope this was helpful!
Another day as an adult (who's almost organized)....damn,
Tasha
